Much planned and much experienced
In its long history, Kranzler Eck Berlin has always attracted and moved people. This is also the motto for the future. Kranzler Eck Berlin will continue to create new experiences in the future. This also includes the topic of sustainable development.

What we do for sustainability

Green space, haven of peace, and
charging station: the Urban Oasis
Since 2024, the “Urban Oasis” has been inviting visitors to linger in the outdoor areas of Kranzler Eck Berlin. The year-round flowering plants provides a habitat and source of food for insects and thus contributes greatly to urban biodiversity.
Visitors can recharge their batteries here – and charge their cell phones too! The Urban Oasis is designed as a consumer-free space. A place to exchange ideas and switch off – in a pleasant microclimate, even on hot summer days.

Kranzler Eck Berlin is internationally certified
The US Green Building Council (USGBC) has certified Kranzler Eck Berlin with LEED Gold.
The USGBC is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable and environmentally friendly energy concepts in buildings. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification process is considered the most widespread and recognized process in the world. A number of basic requirements must be met for certification. Buildings are awarded points depending on how well various sustainability strategies are implemented.

Hardworking bees on Ku'damm:
a small contribution to biodiversity
The number of bee colonies is declining, but everyone knows how important bees are as pollinators. Since 2021, three bee colonies have therefore found a perfect habitat on the roof of the hotel.
A real “Berlin mix” as experts say, because our bee colonies were formed by offshoots of bee colonies from Charlottenburg. The nuptial flight took place in Wilmersdorf, where male bees (drones) fertilized the queens.
The honey or nectar yield of a bee colony with approx. 50,000 bees can be up to 300 kg per year in our latitudes. Initially, the bees need a large proportion of the honey produced for their own use, such as winter food. They now produce a surplus of between 10 and 50 kg per colony.

Let's keep going!
Further measures are being planned or have already been implemented, e.g. the replacement of almost two and a half thousand panes with more energy-efficient windows or the installation of a rainwater cistern with a capacity of 1,500 liters to use rainwater for irrigation.

An eventful past
The history of Kranzler Eck Berlin goes back to the imperial era. Since then, it has been sung about by Udo Lindenberg and Hildegard Knef, among others, and has served as a location for music videos and film productions, such as the Netflix series Kleo. Some of the milestones are listed here as a gallery.
